... For authentic Italian cuisine, see La Lupa 3 on the Quay. This friendly, family-run restaurant serves traditional and regional dishes from the old country and features an extensive wine list...
A delightful Italian restaurant on Poole Quay, if you venture across the border from Hampshire, highly recommended. Easy parking close by in the Quayside car park - £1 for 2 hours or £2 for 3 hours if you want time to wander along the quay admiring the Sunseeker yachts across the water and the variety of trip and private boats along the quayside. This restaurant is owned and run by an Italian family and consequently is very authentic with friendly, helpful staff and the food is excellent. They allowed me a child's portion of Carbonara, no problem, as I wasn't very hungry and my partner very much enjoyed Cannelloni. Check out their website
www.la-lupa-3.co.uk to see their menu and prices, which are very reasonable.
we had a lovely evening on Friday, the food was fantastic and the service so genuine, will be back soon :)
La Lupa (la-lupa-3.co.uk) bills itself as a no-nonsense, family-owned Italian restaurant, for those seeking affordable prices and traditional, hearty meals. Situated in an eighteenth-century mill along the Poole Quay, two blocks from the Waterfront Museum and less than a half mile from the town's ferry terminal, the restaurant is ideal for those just arriving from France's northern shores or those hoping to find a filling meal before setting off to continental Europe. The restaurant is also popular among guests at the Hotel du Vin, located just 500 feet to the north, on Thames Street. La Lupa focuses on pizzas and antipasto dishes, but also boasts a wide variety of steaks, including beef fillet with Gorgonzola cheese.
Just metres away from the sparkling waters of Poole Quay, La Lupa 3 is an authentic Italian restaurant located in the 18th-Century Yeatman's Old Mill. Owned and run by Giacomo and Jeannette Grosso, the restaurant takes its name from the wolf in the myth of the founding of Rome that, as legend has it, nurtured Romulus and Remus. Offering a range of traditional favourites as well as regional specialities from all over Italy, the menu reflects head chef Giacomo's lifetime of expertise in Italian cooking.
Originally from the Piedmont region, Giacomo has crafted a delectable menu that combines dishes such as crespelle alla ricotta e spinachi - homemade Italian pancakes filled with ricotta cheese and spinach, topped with a light Béchamel and tomato sauce and oven baked - with perennial Italian favourites like meatballs with linguine. All are substantial, all are delicious and all are to be savoured in the warm and friendly atmosphere of La Lupa 3.
As if the array of pasta, pizza and meat options wasn't enough, there's also plenty for seafood lovers to get excited about; the antipasti menu offers delights such as gamberoni all'aglio - king prawns cooked in a garlic, white wine and lemon sauce - whilst fishy main courses include monkfish saltimbocca - succulent monkfish wrapped in Parma ham and drizzled with a balsamic dressing. Alongside all this you'll find an interesting and extensive wine list that ensures you'll find just the right bottle for your meal.
As well as a lunchtime special menu - pizza and salad or pasta and garlic bread for just 4.99 - La Lupa 3 also offers an excellent takeaway service for pasta as well as pizza. Take home some penne alla Lupa, cooked with the restaurant's very own sauce, or find a quiet spot on the quayside to enjoy a taste of the Mediterranean in this idyllic part of the UK.
Traditional Italian food isn't a fully loaded pizza with every kind of meat and vegetable you've heard of smothered on the top and covered with cheddar cheese. It's about simplicty and freshness, using only a few of the finest ingredients and using them well. That's what La Lupa claim to encourage, and their menu reflects this with traditional Italian dishes, including a small pizza selection consisting of authentic Italian toppings only.
Hi from James and Jordan!
Hi,
I visited your restaurant last Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with my young friend Jordan. We were staying near Iford for a National BMX race meeting that Jordan was competing in and had decided to come a couple of days earlier and make a little holiday of it. I had visited you in April for a meal, with my Dad but we were a bit rushed, as we were meeting a friend from a ferry, so I thought I'd call again. Jordan had never, believe it or not, been to an Italian restaurant!
Anyway, to get to the point I just wanted to say thank you so much for three great nights, we really enjoyed ourselves and had planned to visit Sunday as well but unfortunately, ran out of time. He wants to visit Bournemouth and Poole again, racing or not; it will probably not be for a while ( maybe next summer) but when we do we will pay you a visit.
In the mean time I will recommend you to anyone I know who is visiting the area.
Thankyou once again everyone.
Bye for now.
James Rogers.
My wife and I visited this evening for a 'Valentines' dinner and we were over the moon to have dined here purely for the friendly hospitality from our hosts. My wife has eaten here before and highly recommended that we do the same and so we did and we were not disappointed. What with lovely wine, pasta, deserts and very helpful staff make this an Italian experience not to be missed. Thank you very much; we will be back probably before we visit Italy for ourselves in July.
We have been to La Lupa with family and have been made to feel very welcome. The food is excellent, especially the steaks, because we wanted to share our experience with others we held our Christmas party here and everyone had a fantastic time. If you enjoy excellent food and want go somewhere where you feel at home then you have to visit La Lupa. You will not be disappointed. We're looking forward to our next visit very soon.
I just wanted to let you know that we had a fabulous night at your restaurant.
We were led to our table by a very friendly waiter who was very professional and attentive throughout the night. There were so many delicious dishes on the menu that it was hard to choose which one to have. The meals that we chose were absolutely delicious and the desserts were scrumptious. It was a lovely friendly atmosphere and we will definitely be coming back very soon.
its good .. so go
go its very good ... been there ages so that must say something...
I have lived in Poole a few years now and La Lupa is one of the few places we love to go back to again and again as the food is good and you get a good crack with the staff.
Just a quick e-mail to say a very big THANK YOU to all the staff who looked after my son and his friends when he celebrated his 18th birthday at La Lupa last Thursday.
They all enjoyed the evening, thought the food was fantastic and my son was really pleased with everything. We believe you serve the best risotto in the world!!
Many thanks once again
La Lupa restaurant was a real pleasure to dine, there's a wide selection of food which is clearly fresh, and the prices are more than reasonable for the type of restaurant La Lupa is, dont expect anything less than the best there now, I will be visiting again for sure and thank you again for looking after my family.
La Lupa is the best restaurant I have ever seen. Nice meals, good service and lovely atmosphere. Well done.
Friendly staff and good food await you at La Lupa. The restaurant is deceptively large; once through the main door, there is a bar and a few chairs and tables are dotted around, but behind the bar is a further door which leads through to the main seated restaurant area. The menu has a good choice of fare: risottos, pastas, lasagne and even steak is available. A good selection of desserts are always on offer if you have got any room left! I had a risotto on my last visit which was extremely filling so had to pass on the sumptuous looking desserts. Nice restaurant in a nice setting (Poole Quay.)
We always book a dinner on Saturday nights when we spend a weekend in Poole because you can't beat the food, service and atmosphere at La Lupa.
Perfecto! This is what an Italian restaurant should be! From the minute you walk in ... your Italian experience begins! The food is very tasty, and the atmosphere whisks you straight to Turin! Beware of a bit of Italian yelling acrossing the restaurant tho!
Another top traditional Italian is La Lupa, visit here for a great selection of dishes.
Good choice for groups. A buzzing atmosphere.
With far-reaching views over the broad sweep of Poole Harbour, La Lupa 3 is a buzzy, family-friendly choice for a scenic meal out. Owned and run by Italians, the restaurant has a reliably traditional menu, including classic pasta, pizza, steaks and mains, plus fresh fish and seafood every day.
Come ashore to traditional Italian fare
There aren't that many Italian restaurants that give you sea breezes with your spaghetti and tides with your tiramisu. But La Lupa 3, nestling on the very edge of Poole Harbour, is one of them. La Lupa 3 seems to specialise in creating the perfect mix of well-loved dishes with a jaunty coastal setting. They have a superb range of house specials too - these seem to change more rapidly than the high tides and phases of the moon. Settle in for a relaxing meal here, especially if you've bought the whole family along. Get stuck into the lovely long list of pastas, pizzas and mains, including fresh fish and seafood. Who ever you're with will thank you for your excellent choice and straightforward good sense.
amazing the best itailan in the world
very good ... great xmas 'do' we had there ...
From pizza to pasta, Italian food is some of the best available within Europe. Dont forget the Parmesan!. La Lupa 3 is an excellent choice!
